Dig your favorite Hawaiian shirt out of your closet and call the babysitter because in lieu of the THP, we will be hosting an end of summer Lakeside Luau at Swimmers Beach on September 9 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.    It has been difficult to get people to volunteer to be a host house for the THP in the past, so our hope is that this eliminates any pressure to host and gives everyone a chance to come together for drinks, hors d'oeuvres, games, and music to bid the summer farewell.    Some alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as hor d'oeuvres will be provided, but we welcome any food or drink donations! Don't forget that there will be a Lakeside Luau this Saturday down at Swimmer's Beach from 6pm to 9pm! VA Memorial: The dedication ceremony for the Sherrard Area Veteran's Memorial (located in Sherrard across from the Post Office) is planned for Sunday, September 10th at 2:00pm. There will also be a band playing from 1:00 to 2:00 if anyone wants to come early. The ceremony will begin at 2:00 and following the dedication, the band will again play until 5:00. They plan to have water, soft drinks, and food available at the park. Everyone is invited to attend and urged to bring lawn chairs!! The fall large item pickup will be on Tuesday, October 17th. On this day, there is no additional charge for extra bagged garbage or large items. They will not accept electronics, old tires, paint, appliances, or construction debris.

The Easter Egg Hunt will be this Saturday, March 23rd from 12:00 to 1:30 at Covered Bridge Park. If you plan on attending, please RSVP by text to Karla Engleking at 309-738-4780 by Thursday. Please include the number of kids and their ages. This event is open to all Fyre Lake members and their families.

The fireworks will be held on Thursday, July 4th and will start at 9:30pm. There will also be a lemonade truck operated by The Main Squeeze Lemonade Company set up down at the boat launch that day!

The Kid's Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, July 6th at swimmer's beach. Registration starts at 8:30am and fishing will be from 9-11am with food and prizes to follow. The Kid's Fishing Derby is a fun, free event put on by the Fyre Lake Sportsman's Club and is open to all members and their families. The age groups are 1-7 years, 8-12 years, and 13-18 years.

The 2nd Annual Fyre Lake Car Show will be held on Saturday August 31st located at the Swimmers Beach. A food truck will be available that will sell pulled pork, brisket, pulled pork mac N cheese, turkey legs, pulled pork fries, and drinks. A new addition this year will be a Kona Ice truck to keep you cool. Come enjoy the day looking at great cars overlooking the lake, delicious food, and all within the company of your Fyre Lake community friends and family. And don't forget, all donations and proceeds go to a great charity helping kids!

We will be holding a Fall Community Garage Sale on Saturday, October 12th from 8am until 4pm. Just like the Spring sale, I will be putting together a map of participating homes. I will send out a message next week requesting addresses to include on the map.

The Halloween party will be Saturday, October 19th starting 4pm. This is a free event open to all Fyre Lake members and their families. Please see the flyer linked below for more information.

Trick or Treating for this year will be held on the Saturday before Halloween, October 26th, from 4:30pm until 6:30pm.
